Settling In
by Lynette Myers on

A warm hello to you dear people!  After 10 fabulous days with Heidi and Drew in Germany (and France), we arrived in South Africa to be met by missionary friends.  These hospitable folks put us up until we could be booked on a flight into Mozambique and up to Nampula.  All went well and we arrived home Saturday.  The first 24 hours we (I should speak for myself) were a bit shell shocked – just the usual response upon jumping into a developing country after 13 months of comfort and luxury.  But, we’re good now!  Thank you for praying us here.  It’s fun setting up house in our little cottage.  Being empty nesters, we’re taking some liberties with “Chad’s room” – now our office J but I don’t think he’ll mind.  When he comes to visit someday we’ll make sure he finds the place “home”.

Our specific activities the past days have included:  a meeting with our AIM unit leader, bringing car documents up to speed (Paul was thrilled to encounter the battery fully charged after sitting all this time), getting connected to the world via internet (still not quite up and running properly), filtering lots of water so we don’t get caught without, moving furniture out of the storage and into the cottage, greeting the Bible school director who is the proud father of a 4 mo old, praying with AIM colleagues here, establishing our cozy routine of morning coffee and reading/praying together (strangely, this important activity was harder to maintain in the U.S.), cleaning, dusting, cleaning some more (the dust is ever present during dry season)…

Pray:  that the Holy Spirit will continue to change both of us into who we need to be to do this job in a way that glorifies Him and evidences love to all those around us (that may seem general but, truly, it is a specific request!)

Pray:  that we will graciously adjust to the changes that AIMs new “regionalization” structure demands

We are so thankful:  that the Bible school is on break this month!  Now we have time to really get settled in, make contacts and write lesson plans before teaching begins.

Thank God for bringing us this far with joyful hearts.

Not our own,

MaryAnn, for both of us
