Denver Rescue Mission
Denver Rescue Mission Service
Liz & Lynette are organizing service to the Denver Rescue Mission at both their Crossing Location and Downtown Location.

We are setting up monthly schedules for members of the church because there has been great interest expressed. We are working with the Denver Rescue Mission's Volunteer Coordinator to set up a rotation that will allow LIFE Fellowship the opportunity of continued service.

Please feel free to check at the Information Booth in the LIFE Fellowship Foyer, to sign up or get maps.

Feel free to contact Lynette Myers (303.809.1454) or Liz Dyess for more information about the service opportunities, but please make sure to sign up at the booth as there is limited availability and the list changes each week.

See below for more information about the Denver Rescue Mission Guidelines for Volunteers, locations, maps, etc.

VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES
To help make your volunteer experience as fun and trouble-free as possible, we have a few important guidelines to acquaint you with:
  • Be punctual and conscientious. Please arrive no later than your designated time.If you are unable to fulfill your volunteer commitment, notify the Volunteer Department of the Denver Rescue Mission at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Sign-in and out of each scheduled volunteer activity. If you are with a group, a representative of the group should sign the group in and out.
  • Most of our guests enjoy talking with visitors, but remember they want to be treated justs as you would, with dignity and respect.
  • Be wise! We want you to get to know our residents and guests; however, be aware of being too gullible. May times, people whoa re so disadvantaged have learned to survive by becoming adept at using others, therefore:
    • Work min groups of 2 or 3. Don't let yourself be singled out or cornered.
    • Do not give money to anyone.
    • Do not give rides to anyone.
    • Do not take anyone home with you.
    • Do not give out personal information, such as telephone numbers or addresses.
    • Do not give anyone your full name.
    • Do not leave personal belongings unattended.
  • Do not make decisions for the residents. Refer residents and transients to the staff for questions outside your specific area of service.
  • All persons under the age of 18 must be with an adult supervisor. Anyone under the age of 18 found without an adult will be asked to leave.
  • Report any inappropriate behavior, or anything that makes you uncomfortable, immediately to a staff member.
  • Keep all information that is obtained directly or indirectly concerning clients and staff absolutely confidential.
  • Dress in a manner that is modest and appropriate. DO NOT wear tank tops, midriff tops, or any clothing that is tight, low-cut, or has lewd or indecent imprints on it. Please DO NOT wear shorts. Anyone not meeting these standards will be taken to our clothing room and given appropriate clothing.
These guidelines are for your protection and are intended to help you make wise decisions about your involvement with the people we serve. We are here to provide the poor and homeless with physical necessities as well as help our neighbors physically, spiritually emotionally an educationally. We thank you for your contribution to this effort.
